Safe Environment

At Our Lady of the Lake, we are dedicated to providing a safe environment for our children and youth and for those in special needs.  Compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment policy (Safe Environment Policy) is an important objective for all staff members and volunteers.  Please contact the church office for more information about this program.

Safe Environment Committee is made up of a group of volunteers who assist the Pastor and the Safety Officer in implementing the Safe Environment Program of the Parish It is the purpose of the Safe Environment program to reduce the risk of abuse or neglect of any kind and to provide a safe and nurturing environment for staff, both paid and volunteer, and for parishioners of all ages.

The Safe Environment Program Our Lady of the Lake and the Diocese of Dallas consists of several steps. If you are new to Our Lady of the Lake, we welcome you. If you desire to work/volunteer with our children, youth, senior citizens or vulnerable adults, you are to follow these procedures so that you may become of part of our community of volunteers.

The steps which are to be completed at the beginning of your employment or volunteer service within the Diocese and Our Lady of the Lake are:

1.        Complete a screening form by going online at:

            Three personal references are checked.

            A twenty to thirty minute interview is conducted.

2.        Each volunteer/employee MUST attend a Training Session and attend a video presentation that includes the Diocesan safe environment video which is 25 minutes long. Please allow one and half hour for the training. Training must be updated on an annual basis.
