Our Lady Of The Lake Our Lady Of The Lake

Marriage

FOR ENGAGED COUPLES:
We congratulation you on your engagement and the joy you two have found. If an engaged couple includes at least one person who is registered in our faith community or who resides in our parish boundaries, they are welcome to prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage here, whether their wedding takes place in this parish or elsewhere. Couples should contact the Church Office at least 6 months prior to their marriage date. Couples are required to go through Marriage Preparation programs prior to being married in the Catholic Church.

Sponsor Couple Program
Sponsor Couple Program (In Faithful Love) is a process consisting of a series of marriage preparation sessions held in the home of a married couple from Our Lady of the Lake who is trained in marriage ministry.  It provides a personal approach, addressing the   unique needs and issues of the engaged couple in a couple-to-couple fashion. Sessions are scheduled at the convenience of both couples.

Engaged Encounter
Couples are asked to attend the Engaged Encounter Weekend presented by the Diocesan Office. Registration information may be found at www.cathdal.org

Documents provided by engaged couple:
The Catholic persons need to obtain a Baptismal Certificate from their church of baptism and must have an issue date within six months of the marriage. If a couple is already civilly married and wants to have their marriage sacramentalized, Our Lady of the Lake requires couples to:

  • Contact the Church Office, 972-771-6671 x101
  • Begin the process of seeking annulment(s), if necessary.
  • Complete the preparation and paperwork necessary for a sacramental marriage

FOR MARRIED COUPLES:
Every couple wants a strong and vibrant marriage that will endure. The truth of the matter is that the only marriages that last are those in which the partners are committed to continually building their relationship. To help couples to develop open and honest communication, to on-going couple and individual growth, to adjusting to the many changes and unforeseen events that will come their way, and to seeking help and support when it's too much to handle alone the Catholic Diocese of Dallas offers enrichment opportunities.
