Catechist / Volunteers

Are you looking for a way to share your faith, time and talents with others? The Children’s Faith Formation department needs you!! Volunteers are needed as catechists (teachers), catechist aides, sacramental retreat team, office and resource support, and safety monitors. You don’t have to have a child in our program to volunteer. We encourage all adults to prayerfully consider whether this ministry is right for you! All volunteers must be cleared through our Safe Environment program. We will provide training and support along the way. We also need paid nursery workers to care for children under the age of 4 during all of the Family Centered Faith Formation sessions. If interested in a paid position, please contact Kristen Vinci at 972-771-6671 X 104..

 

Catechist Training Opportunities

 
As many of you know, Bishop Farrell and the Department of Catechetical Services of the Diocese of Dallas have implemented a Catechetical Plan for all catechists. “Catechists are practicing Catholics who participate fully in the communal worship and life of the Church and who have been prepared for their apostolate by appropriate catechetical training. They are commissioned by the Church to participate in the Divine calling “to teach as Jesus did." (National Directory for Catechesis 8, #54, p. 228-229)
 
In order to provide appropriate catechetical training, we are offering courses at our parish and nearby parishes. Following is a list of courses available this summer. Please prayerfully consider attending these sessions. Depending on the course, you can earn 5-10 credit hours towards certification. We will also be inviting and encouraging parents and interested adults to attend these courses to continue their own journey of lifelong catechesis. To register, please respond to this email or contact me at (972)771-6671x114 as soon as possible to guarantee space availability..
