Parish Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) is a collaborative body of the Christian faithful whose purpose is the promotion of the mission of Jesus Christ and His Church in its entirety. The PPC works in close collaboration with the Pastor of the parish. Meetings are normally held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Monday of the month. With the exception of executive sessions, meetings are open to all parishioners. To contact the PPC email: ppc@ourladyrockwall.org The PPC is a consultative body and has a threefold mission: PPC Members: Bob Boyles: Chair, Paul Sharp: Vice-Chair, Tisa White: Secretary, Jeff Carleton, Kathleen Evans, Leo Gomez, Natalie Lahlouh, B.J. Martin, Harry Morris, Brian Moss, Bob Shirk, and Craig Vinci Meet the PPC Member: Bob Boyles, Chair: Julie and I have been married since 1997 and are blessed in having three young vibrant boys. We have been a member of OLOL since 2002. Upon graduating from Texas A&M University I was commissioned in the United States Army. Even though I spent most of my 8 year career as a logistics officer I was fortunate to spend my first year as an Infantry officer in the 101st Airborne Division. During my Army career my family and I were fortunate to live in numerous states from Kentucky, Virginia all the way to Germany. Upon completing my Army contract we settled down in Rockwall and I currently work for Glidden Paint Company. Most of my 'free' time is consumed with taking the boys to football, soccer, speed skating, water skiing, or even baseball. Outside of those events...I do enjoy watching Texas Aggie football and the Dallas Stars. Paul Sharp, Vice-Chair: I have been at OLOL for approximately 5 years and previously attended St. Michael’s parish in Garland. I have been married to Shannon for 17 years and we have two daughters: Morgan who is 14 years old and Madison who is 10 years old. Other than the PPC, I am also active as a Eucharistic Minister and with the Greeting Ministry at OLOL. Tisa White, Secretary: I’ve been a member of this parish with my husband, Todd, since 1990. We now have three children, and are expecting a fourth in August. You can find me lectoring at 8:00 a.m. Mass, at Catholic Mother’s Council events, working on the church newsletter “The Invitation,” or at Monday evening Faith Formation. I also chair the CMC’s baptism ministry. This is my second year on the PPC, and I have come to appreciate the complexity of the management of the parish and the importance of intelligent planning for its future. Jeff Carleton: My wife Mai and I have been parishioners of OLOL since 2006 and I am in my 3rd year as a member of the Parish Council. I am a first degree Knight and I am also a Eucharistic Minister serving the congregation and several Rehabilitation and Nursing Homes within the Rockwall area. My wife Mai, who enjoys sewing, quilting and crocheting, recently joined the Quilting Ministry and looks forward to contributing her time and talent to this ministry. Kathleen Plagens Evans: I originally joined Our Lady of the Lake in 1978 when my family moved to Rockwall. I began CCD when I was in the 6th grade and attended CYO through high school. After graduating from Rockwall High School in 1986, I attended Texas A&M University and was active at St. Mary’s Parish. After graduation, I met my husband, Ron, on a blind date and we got married in 1993 at Holy Trinity in Dallas. Ron went through RCIA in 1996….the same year that our son, Sam, was born. Our daughter, Molly Kate, was born in 2000. Both of our children were baptized at OLOL. Over the years at OLOL, I have been the hospitality Chair, a lector, and was “story time” leader for VBS for 2 years. I was an RCIA sponsor for two candidates as well as helping set and decorate the new nursery. Our family is currently involved in the Greeter ministry and Family Faith Formation. You can find me cheering at volleyball and football games and volunteering with Rockwall Women’s League, Virginia Reinhardt Elementary and Utley Middle School. Ismael ("Leo") Gomez: My friends and family call me "Leo" after my Grandfather Leoncio. I'm from Peru and I came to this country when I was 17 years old. I did not have the opportunity to go to a regular school here but I did graduate from high school in my native country when I was 16. The needs of my family in my country make me work hard on every aspect of my life. Being one of the youngest, I had to work during the day to send them money, and go to school during the night to get my GED. I also participated for 5 years in the Hispanic youth group at Good Shepherd during the weekends (where I meet my wife) and in the Hispanic Youth Parish of Dallas. Faith in God is something that my parents taught me since I was very little, and that faith gave me strength in the most difficult times of my life and also gave me the friends that I dearly love, a great wife and 3 wonderful kids, one girl (Jasmin 5) and 2 boys (Nick 14 and Jacob 8). I have worked for the last 7 years doing logistics for a manufacturing company (until recently, when I was laid off) and I’m the coach on one my son's soccer teams in the Rowlett Youth Soccer Association. I'm also a big Cowboys fan and even though my nephew is going to A&M next year, I like Texas. Natalie L: I have been a parishioner of Our Lady of Lake for approximately 5 years. I moved with my husband to Rockwall in 2005 and since then have grown our family with the addition of our beautiful son, who is now 20 months and very active! I am also currently involved with the Catholic Mothers Council at the Our Lady of Lake, where being new to the area, have been able to meet so many other mothers who share common interests and beliefs. Prior to moving to Rockwall, I was deeply involved in the Catholic Church where I had been attending since I was a teenager, so through Gods will I hope to be able to share in those experiences with the Parish Pastoral Council to better serve God and the parishioners at Our Lady of the Lake. B.J. Martin: I am married to Dwayne Martin and we have five wonderful children. You can usually find me at any church ministry functions that involve children and families, from the Littlest Angels pre-school, VBS, Wednesday Afternoon Faith Formation to middle and high school youth ministry activities. I am currently serving my last year on the Parish council. My husband and I are also members of the Stewardship Team. Harry G. Morris: Lana and I moved to Rockwall in December 2007 and immediately joined Our Lady of the Lake. I have been on the Parish Pastoral Council since January 2009. Lana and I are also the Evangelization Team for the RCIA program. Lana is Secretary for the CCW. Prior to OLOL, we were very active at Church of the Holy Spirit in Montgomery, AL for 4 years. I was head of the Long Range Planning Committee which was an extension of the Pastoral Council. My committee did 3 parish surveys, developed a 20-year master site plan and worked with an architect to prepare the master site plan. They are in the process of doing a multi-million dollar expansion. I was also involved in purchasing property that was adjacent to our parish property. In prior years we were both active in other parishes and I have been on a Pastoral Council, Finance Council and numerous committees. The Lord has been good to us and we desire to serve Him in our parishes. We have two sons and 3 grandchildren. My younger brother is a priest now serving as the Sr. Catholic Chaplain with the Air Force in Ramstein AFB in Germany. Brian Moss: I am in my 3rd year of service on the Parish Pastoral Council, serving as Secretary during my 2nd term. My wife Karen and I joined the parish in 1999. We have three boys, ages 6, 5, and 2 - - if you have not seen them I am sure you have heard them at some point in time. I graduated High School from Plano East in 1993 and attended Stephen F. Austin State University. I received my degree in Animal Science and began my career in the most logical field someone with that degree could have…. testing and balancing air conditioning systems. Karen and I met at Stephen F. Austin in 1995. She decided I was tolerable enough to marry in 2002. It has been an epic journey ever since with experiencing all the opportunities and challenges life places in our path. We have been blessed with the ability to look back and laugh at most of them, but it could not have been possible without the support and belief in our faith, family and friends. Bob Shirk: I joined Our Lady of the Lake Parish in 1984 when I moved here from Odessa, Texas. Soon after arriving, I joined the ushering ministry and have enjoyed acting as a shepherd to our “flock” of parishioners during Mass ever since. I was a member of the OLOL Bell Choir and am a third degree Knight. I also had the privilege to coach and teach gymnastics to many of the young children of our Parish, most who have grown up and become young men and women. Because of all the individuals I have met over the years, I feel we have one of the most God loving, caring, and compassionate groups of Parishioners in the Dallas Diocese. Craig Vinci: I moved to Rockwall from Illinois in 1979. I have been a member of Our Lady of the Lake since then. After graduating from Bishop Lynch High School, I ended up in the Air Force stationed in South Dakota. In 1995, I married Kristen, who also grew up attending OLOL. We lived in Florida for a few years, but are glad to be back in Rockwall. We have 5 great kids who keep me busy with all their activities. I am employed by Texas Air Systems, Inc in Irving. In my spare time I enjoy playing golf and watching sports. I am blessed with a great family, wonderful friends, and a job I love.
